Hello, and welcome to our website. We are a small family farm dedicated to quality pasture raised beef. Adam and I (Cynthia) are both proud third generation Canadian farmers, born and raised in the Drayton area in Wellington County. In addition to beef cattle, we also raise poultry and mixed cash crops.
We chose highland cattle as the cattle breed we wanted to work with for many reasons beyond their beauty. Highland cattle, which originated in Scotland, are known for their rugged nature, being able to withstand cold temperatures. They are also a more docile breed, often loving the attention of a rub, or a brush. They enjoy eating apples or carrots from our hands as a treat.

Farmers
Besides their rugged and docile nature, they are a slower to mature beef which results in a leaner cut that is low in fat, but rich in protein and iron. Because of the Highland's insulating hair, it stores its fat in the muscle fibers –creating marbling. That's why if you look at a grass-fed Angus steak and a grass-fed Highland steak, the Highland steak will actually have marbling in it, whereas the Angus won't.

Our cattle graze the pastures throughout the spring, summer, and fall, and enjoy hay through out the winter months. They also enjoy eating cover crops when available. Our future goal is to pasture off additional land on a hilly front piece of our property to allow for rotational grazing.
